Welcome to 
Clearwater Florida
Clearwater, Florida is the smallest
of the three cities that make up the Tampa Bay Area (the others
are St Petersburg and Tampa).
It's believed to be named for
the crystal clear springs that flowed through the city, the major
one located near today's City Hall.
Once home to the Tocobaga people,
the area was occupied in the period after 1835 by former soldiers.
However, it was only after a railroad to the area was completed
in 1888 that more people came to the area.
By the early 20th century, Clearwater
was already attracting snowbirds, which continues to this day,
thanks to the year round sunshine and warm temperatures.
Natural beauty and great sunsets
are only part of the charm of this area. This tropical city lies
on the land between Old Tampa Bay and Clearwater Harbor, with
the Gulf of Mexico just beyond.
This area is home to miles and
miles of sandy beaches, many of which have won awards. While
these are one of the city's major attractions there are many
others.
You can get a lot from a visit
to Clearwater at any time of year. Summer and fall are great
times for beach activities, but there's plenty to do all year
round.
As well as outdoor activities,
there are cultural activities going on throughout the year which
the whole family will enjoy. Clearwater is also close to Tampa
