Welcome to
Hollywood Florida
Hollywood is named after the
California town of the same name. The Dream City was the vision
of Joseph Young, who envisaged Hollywood as a town for people
of all ages and backgrounds.
It remains a multicultural city
today. Young purchased the first parcel of land in what became
Hollywood in 1921 and the area continued to expand after that.
The city includes several miles
of Atlantic beach coast and is located between Fort Lauderdale
and Miami. One of the features of the original community was
sectioning the area into districts and including three circular
areas off the main boulevard.
Those still exist today as Young
Circle, Watson Circle (where City Hall is) and Presidential Circle.
Young also had the vision to create a deep water seaport which
became the thriving Port Everglades.
Known as the Diamond of the Gold
Coast, Hollywood has continued to thrive. Uniquely, the city
includes the independent Seminole Indian Reservation within its
limits.
Hollywood is a regional center
for arts and culture. There are also plenty of eoc-friendly activities
which you can enjoy year round thanks to the wonderful climate.
This part of Florida has a humid
sub tropical climate, with warm weather all year round. In southwestern
Florida, winter temperatures donít usually drop below
64F while summer temperatures are often in the 90s.
This has made it a mecca for
those looking to escape the snow and there are many celebrities
among the city's residents. When in Hollywood, thereís
plenty to do, with local and regional attractions, entertainment
and bustling nightlife. Read on for a sample of whatís
on offer.
