Welcome to
Jupiter Florida
You can't get much closer to
the Atlantic Ocean than in the town of Jupiter, Florida. Located
between Hobe Sound and Palm Beach, this beautiful beachside town
is a favorite with visitors.
The area was named for the Hobe
Indians who made their home there. On early maps it was recorded
as Jobe (the Spanish pronunciation of the name), then it became
Jove (the Latin name for the god of light, sky and weather),
and finally Jupiter.
Though its name is the result
of several misunderstandings, it seems appropriate for such a
lovely location. Jupiter is near to the Jupiter Sound and the
exclusive Jupiter Inlet Colony.
Like other nearby towns and cities,
Jupiter is warm all year round, with temperatures ranging from
78F in the winter months to 92F in the summer. Youíll
never feel the chill in Jupiter.
It's no surprise that many snowbirds
from New York and other states choose to winter in Jupiter and
many end up living there all year round. Notable past residents
of the area include Burt Reynolds and several professional sportsmen
and women.
Jupiter's most notable landmark
is the Jupiter Inlet Lighthouse, built in 1860 and now on the
National Register of Historic Places. This is one of the places
to visit when you are in Jupiter, and the climb to the top is
worth the stunning view.
There are also many other attractions
in and around Jupiter, as well as entertainment and nightlife
to enjoy. Itís time to explore what Jupiter has to offer.
