Attractions and Things to Do
in Ponte Vedra Beach Florida
Ponte Vedra is a great place
for world class sport, with dozens of professional tennis courts
and golf courses.
However, there's much more to
see and do. Fishing, sailing and surfing are all available on
the beach, or you could ride the waves on a jet ski.
Florida is well known for its
work on preserving at-risk marine species, and Ponte Vedra Beach
is home to the Guana Tolomato Matanzas National Estuarine Research
Reserve, which includes protected beaches and wetlands.
Explore more of the region's
beaches by visiting Jacksonville Beach, Neptune Beach or Atlantic
Beach.
To find out more about the regionís
marine history, visit the Pablo Historical Park. This has a number
of exhibits focusing on the lives of river pilots and those who
built the beach communities. If you want to brave the waters
yourself, then consider taking a kayak adventure along the pristine
waterways in the region.
You will be able to see plants,
birds and wildlife in their natural habitat or hunt for shells
in the tidal pools. It's a fun day out.
Another place worth a visit is
the Timucuan Ecological and Historic Preserve and Fort Caroline
National Memorial. The history of the preserve stretches back
more than 6,000 years and you can enjoy guided or self guided
tours that explore this extensive history.
The Fort Caroline Memorial commemorates
the brief stay of the French in Florida, and you can also visit
the Kingsley Plantation to experience 19th century plantation
living.
