Attractions and Things to Do in St. Petersburg
Florida
Before you take in a Latin dance
show, attend a Latin theme party or Cuban theme party or head
off for a night of salsa dancing to Cuban music and live bands,
take some time to explore St Petersburg's many attractions.
There are many award-winning
museums in downtown St Pete, including the Salvador Dali Museum
which has the largest collection outside Europe of that artist's
works.
Dali's work is incredible, so
this is worth a visit. Other museums that salsa enthusiasts should
consider are the Holocaust Museum, the Florida International
Museum (which is affiliated with the Smithsonian) and the Museum
of Fine Arts.
Salsa fans can't visit St Petersburg without soaking up some
of the tropical Caribbean sunshine at the beach. Check out Clearwater
Beach for stunning views of the Gulf of Mexico and water based
fun for the whole family.
Swim, try water sports, build
sandcastles or simply lounge on the beach to soak up some rays.
Wander along the waterfront downtown to watch sailing, birds
and people. If you're feeling more adventurous, take a boat tour
of Tarpon Springs or sail the high seas on a replica pirate ship.
Alternatively, walk along the
St Petersburg pier and soak up the atmosphere. Florida combines
fun with nature preservation, so salsa enthusiasts can enjoy
the beautiful weather in a range of natural settings.
Fort de Soto Park offers miles
of deserted beach backed by acres of parkland while Weedon Island
has a natural history center and is a great place for canoe trips
and birdwatching. You won't run out of things to do in St Pete,
and there is also plenty of entertainment all year round.
